Applicable to the clients who ask for our services of rent
The protection of its right to the confidentiality is one of the main preoccupations of our company. We understand that you want to know how their personal character data are compiled and used, and that wants to have the possibility of deciding, being facilitated him the necessary information, how they will be used, limiting the possible uses if you consider it necessary. The practices mentioned in this document reflect the present policy of our company in the matter of confidentiality and protection of data. In order to include/understand them in its totality, we recommended to him that it reads east document.
Who we are
For the purposes of the present Policy of Confidentiality, the denominations “we”, “our company” and “nuestro/a/os/as” make reference to Hertz and its operations in Costa Rica through Costa Rica Rent to Car, S.A. and companies relacioandas to this one. Generally, these companies are denominated “related”. Our enterprise activity concentrates in the rent of vehicles.
This Policy of Confidentiality describes our practices in the matter of privacy solely, and not those of our filial concessionaires nor (nor either those of third parties who are excluded from the definition of “us”, “our company” and “nuestro/a/os/as”). Our concessionaires and branchs have their own norms on the right to the confidentiality, that can be different from ours. In order to obtain more data on the practices in the matter of privacy of anyone of our concessionaires or branchs, the policies of privacy of the same will have to be consulted, and not gathered them in the present document.
Generally, the description of our concessionaires includes the concessionary denominations “of Hertz System”, “concessionaires of Hertz”, “tax exemptions of Hertz” or other denominations of similar character, who will help him to identify them in the transactions that you realise. Our branchs operate with diverse names, but its trade name usually does not include the mark “Hertz”. If you have you doubt on if a company it is part of ours, or one of our concessionaires or branchs, póngase in contact with us as it indicates in the section “Questions of clients”.
Scope of application and object of the norms
This Policy of Confidentiality makes reference to the personal character data that we obtain from our clients or people interested in our companies of rent and identifies that them like physical people. The expression “personal character data” makes reference to any information concerning identified or identifiable physical people registered by any means. This Policy of Confidentiality is not applicable to the personal character data that we obtain from our employees or who make reference to the same, nor either to the personal character data provided by clients of other companies of our group (including those of sale of vehicles). Our company is in force by norms different for the treatment from these data types. Also, this Policy of Confidentiality is not applicable to the groups of data that have been put under a dissosciation procedure, so that the information cannot tie to an identified or identifiable person. We reserved the right to use these groups of data in agreement with the interests of our company.
In the present Policy of Confidentiality, the denominations “company” and “companies” make mercantile reference to all type of society or societies, society or civil limited liability companies, society or societies or another similar entity type or organizations.
Data summary
Compiled data types and sources from which they come
During our enterprise activities, we successfully obtained certain personal character data regarding our clients, like for example:
- Data provided by our clients, like its name, direction or directions, the name of the company or companies for which they work, its number of employee identification, its telephone numbers and of fax, their directions of electronic mail, its date and birthplace, its number of license to lead, its number of passport, information regarding the credit cards that use, if they are travelling frequent of some air line or another information or data of property to programs of affiliation to companies or associations;
- Information regarding the operations that realise with our company, our branchs or others, like the place, date and hour of collection and return of the rented vehicle, the name of the air lines and the number of flight of their airplane of arrival, and the expenses of rent;
- The information that we received from the information agencies on consumers, like its solution and its file of credit.
Our sources for the data summary of personal character include the Web sites administered by our company and others administered by third parties through which reserves can become of rent with our company or our concessionaires, computer science reservations systems which the travel agencies use to make telephone reserves with our company and our concessionaires, calls to our centers of reserves and attendance, forms of inscription in the Hertz programs for renting of vehicles and other similars, contracts of rent celebrated with our company and our concessionaires, other types in agreements signed with our company and our concessionaires, information on accidents and incidences regarding rents contracted with our company or our concessionaires and agencies of information on consumers. Also, we compiled personal character data on our clients through other companies with which we maintain relations commercial.
Use of “cookies” and other technologies of pursuit
As much we as our agents used cookies to make a pursuit of our clients and the people interested in our services that visit our Web sites or that receive the messages of electronic mail of commercial character which we sent in format HTML (denominated “electronic mail HTML in the future”), as well as to facilitate the use of the services which we offer in our Web sites or related to electronic mail HTML. A “cookie” is a data set that a Web server keeps in the computer of a user to be able to identify it in his next visit. The cookies allow that the Web sites “remember” the data that were introduced when moving by the different pages, or when it becomes to visit the site from the same past equipment a time. In our Web sites two types different from cookies are used:

Web sites of third parties
Our Web sites and electronic mails HTML can contain connections to Web sites of third parties, whose operation not always is bound to the one of our sites. Security of the data
We have physical, electronic and methodologic mechanisms of protection destined to protect its personal character data and to avoid its loss, illegal use, access, spreading, alteration and nonauthorized destruction. Like part of these precautions, we tried to protect its personal character data by means of designed technologies to protect the data during its transmission. The access to the personal character data of our clients is restricted those employees who need to know this information so that our company or our concessionaires can provide the necessary services to them. Also, we have adopted a policy by which the illegal use of personal character data on the part of our employees considers a serious infraction that entails the application of disciplinary measures. However, it agrees to consider that totally surely does not exist any transmission method or data storage. Although their physical characteristics are different, as much the shipments by postal mail like the telephone calls, faxes and the transmissions realised through Internet are average in which it exists risk of loss, deflection of route, interception and illegal use of the transmitted data.
Our decisions about the data that we compiled or we communicated our clients, or of the methods of compilation or communication who we used, always try to look for a balance between the security of the data and the comfort, aspects that we considered fundamental for our clients. Therefore, sometimes we used a communication method that is not as safe as other less comfortable alternatives. A clear example is the case of the electronic mail, that we sent without codifying because we think that, at present, many of our clients do not have means necessary to receive based mail. However, this practice supposes a greater risk in case of the message is intercepted or turned aside of its route, since the content is not protected by means of coding. Since the messages of electronic mail that it sends to us and that we sent to him are not codified, we requested to him that #1 does not include its number of partner of Hertz Club nor any other type of information that considers confidential. If it wishes to use a method more surely to put itself in contact with our company through Internet, it presses the connection “Contáctenos” of the main page of our Web site, and fills in the corresponding form.
